The Kenyan city of Mombasa is preparing to host the continent’s first conference fully dedicated to artificial intelligence technologies, scheduled from August 25 to 28.
The conference aims to establish Kenya as a strategic hub in global discussions on artificial intelligence, with the participation of more than 1,500 executive leaders, policymakers, researchers, and innovators from across the continent and the world.
The event seeks to formulate national strategies for employing AI, set ethical frameworks for its use and development, promote an investment-friendly environment, and highlight African talent in this rapidly growing field.
The conference will feature high-level interactions between the public and private sectors, as well as the preparation of cross-border recommendations, policies, and agreements to foster the development of young talent in AI.
Universities and research institutions in Kenya will have opportunities to collaborate with international research centers, particularly in applied AI fields such as digital education (EduTech), health (HealthTech), agriculture (AgriTech), climate (ClimaTech), government administration (GovTech), financial services (FinTech), trade (TradeTech), and industry (InduTech).
The conference is expected to boost African presence on global platforms concerned with AI development and enable Kenya to play a pivotal role in shaping the future directions of this sector both locally and internationally.
